ADVICE FOR MOVING HOUSE IN BAD WEATHER
Moving house can be stressful enough in perfect weather; organising all your possessions, your family and the removals company can make the whole process seem twice as long as it actually is, so when faced with difficult weather conditions, the moving process can seem like even more of a thankless task. This article will run through a few tips and ideas on how to make moving house in adverse weather conditions go a little more smoothly.

Protecting your items from the elements is very important, regardless of cost. Whether a box contains cushions or expensive electrical equipment, keeping the rain and snow away from the cardboard boxes is vital. Parking the removal vehicle can ensure the box spends minimal time outside and is not damaged by the elements.

The more severe weather conditions can seriously hamper the speed and efficiency of your move. Check the weather forecast in advance to prepare for any delays that may happen. Salt your driveway to allow the removal van to park as close to your home as possible, that way you don’t have to risk carrying heavy boxes across slippery ground. Should any snowfall be severe enough to cause delays, you may find that your moving plans have to be re-arranged. If you think there might be bad weather approaching, create a backup plan just in case. Each removal company will have a different policy on re-arrangements, so liaise with them to ensure you find a solution that both parties are happy with.

Keeping warm is obviously important in cold weather, regardless of if you’re moving house or not, but seeing as you may be spending a lot of time outside, making sure you’re comfortable is a must. The colder you are, the more difficult you’ll find it to transport heavy boxes, so ensure you’ve got gloves to stop your fingers going numb! Hot drinks are also a great benefit to both you and the removals workers, helping to keep spirits (and temperatures) up for the duration of the move!

If you are planning a move, whether you’re moving house or relocating your business, you need to ensure that you hire the right removals company.
